YAG LASER
Lumivision Eye Clinic is able to provide patients with a one-stop Yag Laser Clinic. In this clinic you will have an initial consultation with the consultant where your eye will be examined thoroughly and the necessity for a yag laser procedure will be assessed. The majority of Yag patients have been informed that they need a procedure by their optician, either for posterior capsular opacification or for narrow angle glaucoma.
A fee of £140 will apply for the initial consult and only if laser treatment deemed necessary will the remaining £360 will be charged. The whole service is usually available on the same day with a post op check a week later also included. Just mention when you book your consultation if you are interested in a One-stop service.

What is Yag Laser ?
There are numerous ophthalmic applications for Nd:YAG lasers. They are most commonly used to treat posterior capsular opacification after cataract surgery and to create a peripheral iridotomy in patients with narrow angles or angle-closure glaucoma.
YAG CAPSULOTOMY
YAG laser capsulotomy returns your vision to the level it was after your initial cataract surgery.
Sometimes, the clear vision that's achieved after cataract surgery can become blurred over time. In these cases, a secondary procedure known as YAG laser treatment is required to improve your vision. It is a quick painless procedure done in under ten minutes.
YAG IRIDOTOMY
Yag Peripheral Iridotomy is an outpatient clinic procedure in which the ophthalmologist applies a very focused beam of light to form a small hole, not visible to the naked eye, on the outer rim (edge) of the iris, which is the coloured part of the eye.
This permanent opening allows fluid (aqueous humour) to flow between the anterior chamber, the front part of the eye, and the area behind the iris, the posterior chamber so that the fluid pushes the iris tissue backwards, thus opening & unblocking the drainage channels. This is done to prevent high pressure developing in the eye which can permanently damage the optic nerve.
